Today, Friday, August 1, 2025, Trimurti Arts, Commerce, and Science College, Trimurtinagar, Nevasa, under the Trimurti Pawan Pratishthan, observed a significant dual commemoration. The college paid tribute to two towering figures of Indian history: the 104th Punyatithi (death anniversary) of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and the 105th Jayanti (birth anniversary) of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe. This joint celebration highlighted the diverse yet equally profound contributions of these leaders to India’s social and political landscape.

The event served as a poignant reminder of Lokmanya Tilak’s relentless struggle for India’s independence, encapsulated in his powerful slogan, “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it!” His legacy as a fearless journalist, a profound educationist, and a driving force behind the nationalist movement continues to inspire. Simultaneously, the college honored Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe, the people’s bard, whose powerful literature and folk art gave voice to the marginalized and championed social justice. His narratives depicted the struggles and aspirations of the common people, making him a symbol of resilience and social awakening.

The ceremony saw the presence of numerous faculty members, reflecting the college’s collective respect for these historical figures. Among those present were Head of Arts Faculty, Prof. Jawale Sir, along with Prof. Khedkar Sir, Prof. Aniket Arasule Sir, Prof. Borude Sir, Prof. Avare Sir, Prof. Palhare Sir, Prof. Aragade Sir, Prof. Devtarse Sir, Prof. Sukalkar Sir, Prof. Vairagar Sir, Prof. Thorat Madam, and Prof. Gund Sir. The entire teaching fraternity of the college was also present, underscoring the institution’s commitment to upholding the values and ideals championed by these great personalities. The dual commemoration provided an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on the diverse paths to nation-building, from political activism to cultural and social reform, reinforcing the college’s dedication to holistic education and fostering responsible, historically aware citizens.
