On July 8, 2025, an enlightening special lecture on C.A. (Chartered Accountancy) career guidance was successfully organized at Trimurti Arts, Commerce, and Science College, in collaboration with Shri Dadasaheb Haribhau Ghadge Patil Vidyalaya. The primary objective of this program was to provide comprehensive guidance, accurate information, and vital inspiration to commerce students regarding the esteemed Chartered Accountancy course. The session was graced by the presence of renowned C.A. trainer, Prof. Nikhil Jaju Sir, who served as the chief mentor for the event.

The program saw the esteemed presence of Dr. Changdevrao Arasule Sir, Principal of Trimurti Arts, Commerce, and Science College, along with Ms. Snehal (Didi) Ghadge Patil, Vice President of the institution. Other distinguished attendees included Department Head Prof. Nimbalkar Sir, Prof. Yogita Gaikwad, Prof. Pranjal Thorat, Prof. Nikita Barge, Prof. Santosh Jawale, Prof. Gund, Prof. Pravin Avare, Prof. Rahul Borude, Prof. Palhare, and Dr. Nilofer Pathan. Prof. Nikhil Jaju Sir, with his engaging and fluent style, provided students with an in-depth understanding of the various stages of the C.A. course. He demystified the entire structure of the C.A. program, meticulously explaining its three main levels: Foundation, Intermediate, and Final. His guidance extended beyond just the syllabus, delving into practical strategies essential for success. He offered invaluable insights on:

  • Time Management: Strategies for balancing vast syllabi with revision and practice.

Prof. Jaju emphasized a crucial aspect of becoming a Chartered Accountant, stating, “Becoming a C.A. is not merely about passing exams; it is a journey of discipline, ethics, and professionalism.” This profound statement resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing that the C.A. profession demands not just intellectual acumen but also unwavering integrity and a strong ethical compass.

The session garnered an overwhelmingly positive response from the students, indicating their keen interest and ambition towards the C.A. profession. More than 200 students from the Commerce and M.Com departments of the college attended the session. Following the main address, students enthusiastically engaged in a Q&A session, clarifying their doubts and seeking personalized advice from Prof. Jaju, which proved to be highly beneficial. The program was presided over by Principal Dr. Changdevrao Arasule Sir, while Prof. Nimbalkar Sir delivered the introductory remarks and extended the vote of thanks, bringing the informative session to a successful close.


The Chartered Accountancy Landscape: A Pathway to Professional Excellence

The C.A. (Chartered Accountancy) course is one of India’s most prestigious and highly respected professional qualification programs. Administered by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), it equips students with deep expertise in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management. Upon successful completion, individuals are designated as Chartered Accountants, opening doors to a wide array of career opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • After 12th (HSC): Students from any stream—Commerce, Science, or Arts—are eligible to enroll in the C.A. course.
  • No Age Limit: There is no age restriction to pursue this course.

Three Main Levels of the C.A. Course:

  1. Foundation Course (formerly CPT):
    • This is the first stage after 12th standard.
    • Subjects: Accounting, Mercantile Law, General Economics, and Quantitative Aptitude.
    • Exams: Conducted twice a year, typically in May and November.
    • Study Duration: A minimum of 4 months of study is recommended before appearing for the exams.
  2. Intermediate Course (formerly IPCC):
    • Students who successfully clear the Foundation Course can proceed to this level.
    • Direct Entry: Graduates and post-graduates in Commerce with a minimum of 55% marks, or graduates from other streams with 60% marks, can directly enter the Intermediate level without appearing for the Foundation Course.
    • The course is divided into two groups (Group I and Group II).
    • Each group comprises 4 subjects.
  3. Final Course:
    • This is the culminating stage, undertaken after completing the Intermediate level.
    • Students can appear for the Final exams while undergoing their Articleship Training.
    • It also consists of two groups, each with 4 subjects.

Articleship Training:

  • After clearing the Intermediate level, candidates must undergo 3 years of practical training (Articleship) under the guidance of an ICAI-approved Chartered Accountant.
  • This hands-on experience provides exposure to real-world accounting, auditing, taxation, and other financial domains, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Duration:

  • The minimum duration to complete the entire C.A. course is typically 4.5 to 5 years, assuming a student clears all examinations in their first attempt.

Fee Structure (Approximate):

  • Foundation: ₹9,000 – ₹10,000
  • Intermediate: ₹18,000 – ₹20,000 (per group)
  • Final: ₹22,000 – ₹25,000

Career Opportunities:

Upon becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant, a plethora of career paths open up:

  • Working as a Partner/Employee in a Chartered Accountant firm.
  • Establishing one’s own independent practice.
