Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje (now North Macedonia), showed a strong inclination towards religious work from a young age. At 18, she joined the “Loreto” religious congregation in Ireland and later came to India. Her life’s mission began in 1950 when she founded the Missionaries of Charity. This organization, headquartered in Kolkata, was dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor—the sick, the destitute, the disabled, and those suffering from leprosy.

Mother Teresa spent her entire life working tirelessly in the slums of Kolkata, embodying a life that was simple, peaceful, loving, and selfless. Her profound dedication to humanity earned her international recognition, including the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1980. She was also awarded the Padma Shri in 1962.

Referred to as the “Goddess of Humanity,” Mother Teresa’s life is a powerful source of inspiration for service to the most vulnerable. By celebrating her Jayanti, Trimurti College encourages its students to embrace her values of empathy, compassion, and selfless action.
