Celebrating Genius: Tagore and Swaminathan Honored at Trimurti College

Today, Thursday, August 7, 2025, Trimurti Arts, Commerce, and Science College, Trimurtinagar, under the Trimurti Pawan Pratishthan, held a special program to honor two remarkable figures: Rabindranath Tagore on his 84th Punyatithi (death anniversary) and M.S. Swaminathan on his Jayanti (birth anniversary). This joint commemoration paid tribute to the immense and diverse contributions of a literary giant and a scientific visionary who both shaped India’s modern identity.

Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel laureate and the composer of India’s national anthem, was a multifaceted personality—a poet, philosopher, painter, and educator. His works championed humanism, universalism, and cultural pride, leaving an indelible mark on Indian literature and thought. M.S. Swaminathan, often hailed as the “Father of the Green Revolution in India,” was a world-renowned agricultural scientist whose groundbreaking work in developing high-yield crop varieties saved millions from famine and transformed India into a food-sufficient nation.

The event saw the presence of a wide array of faculty members and students, demonstrating the college’s deep respect for these luminaries.
